Is it the seasonal flu, swine flu, allergies or what?

We listen to the news and read the papers, we start to feel sick and we definitely have the swine flu! Not so fast. Here are a few key symptoms to help you identify what ails you:

Seasonal Flu - Fever that comes on fast with chest discomfort, body aches and exhaustion. Dry and unproductive coughs.

Common Cold- Nasal Congestion, runny nose, sore throat, cough (hacking and productive) and maybe even a low grade fever (below 100 degrees F).

Allergies - Allergies are less bothersome in winter than fall and spring but if you have itchy eyes, nose and throat with sneezing, you maybe having an allergy attack.

Swine Flu- The H1N1 virus feels alot like the seasonal flu (although possible milder), but
often comes with stomach issues, i.e., nausea, diarrhea and vomiting.

Know your symptoms and seek the appropriate care. For information on how herbs can help this season check out our blog on herbal approach for flu season.

The fall is the breeding ground for ragweed pollen attack and it is important to keep a tab on asthma and allergy alerts from the different websites that provide them. This way we are better prepared to deal with pollen attacks.
